I found a 1999 mercedes benz c-class c230 Kompressor w/ 195,000 miles on it. It's in perfect condition. Never even has had a problem before besides small stuff like brakes and small stuff.. There selling it for 6,000. Is this a good buy? its a 2nd owner.. how long should the car last before it dies? as long as its tooken care of right it should be fine tell 300,000 plus right? is this a good deal?

 

If you go to www.kbb.com, you will get the retail price of that car depending on the optional equipment
and some other things such as condition, zip code, etc. It's in the ball park at that price. The other issue
about how long it will last and if it should go to 300K is something nobody can say. It might, and it might not.
You might be lucky. Even with the best of care, anything can happen on any car. It's just not
possible to say how long any given part will last. Some people would say, "If it went to 195,000 miles, then
it willl probably go to 300". At 6K, it's not like you're going to lose a ton of money on this car anyway and
you might end up getting something that will give you good service for a long time. It's a roll of the dice.
That's my humble opinion. Hope it works out for you if you get it.

 

You have to assume all the easy trouble free miles are in this cars past. It depends on what/how you intend to drive it/do with it. Probably not a great daily driver at this point. Maybe a decent third car to keep in the garage and take out to dinner on Saturday night to impress your friends.
