Are you talking about the nylon piece that slides up and down and connects the two round shafts? under, and I assume you have the single blade, large black cover? Try lubing with some white lithum and movin git up and down until it is loose. If you down lube these shafts they will bind and eventually you will run into trouble

Hi Paul,
If it is what I think, you are talking about the nylon gear that runs against the little brass one in the gearbox attached to the wiper motor. That gear wears and strip easily. Very poor engineering (one huge wiper that tends to get stiff if under lubricated, driven by a good size motor and they save a couple of $ on a gear???). It happened to me and I had to change the whole wiper motor assembly. Got it from MB for 250 Cdn (in Quebec Canada). Check with them before anything else. Make them feel bad for that crap and get the "garage" discounted price. DIY job since you already got it off the car.

Same issue I had, nylon gera is stripped and CANNOT be replaced, you have to replace the entire motor which isn't cheap (US anyway). I paid $460 for the new motor and spent about 2 hours putting it in. On a scale from 1 to 10 for DIY fiex, I rated this one an 8 for difficulty.

Hi Paul,
I also am having troubles with my wiper motor - I don't want to take it aprat unless I have to; its stopping mid sweep at the moment. Did you ever get any answers as to where the best place to buy a new motor might be? My car is a W202 estate, 1998.
Cheers,
Duncan

You can take it apart (it's not easy, but it's do-able). The replacement part can be purchased at any MB dealer, or any MB parts service online. Do a "Google" search for Mercedes Benz parts and you'll find a handful of online stores that sell the motor.
