Well, since none of my ofther posts are getting any answers I guess it's time to ask something easier. What I want to know is will a $100 OBD-II scan tool pick up all the codes from my C230. It isa 1997, but are there special MB codes that it can't read. Can anyone recomend a scan tool that I can pick up that not to expensive, say at Krakens or Auto Zone????

I use "Actron" CP9175 OBD II AutoScanner and it's working well for my 1998 C 230. You can get one on www.amazon.com for 98,00 plus S&H.
AutoZone also sell the same model, but I don't know the price.

 

Amazon would be cheaper than local auto shops then.
