Anyone have any suggestions/opinions on the best value for code reset and/or scan tools for 1995 E420 (M119 Engine, 4.2L, Q124.034 Chassis)???

I've been doing my own engine work for years on 1989 300SE, but this new baby (the E420) is finicky and definitely more difficult to diagnose engine problems without the proper tool.

Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

By the way, I replaced the engine harness and ignition control module already - common problems with this engine - and this fixed a major no-start problem

I just got done putting a sport suspension in the car - and now I have engine problems (mis-firing) at 4000 rpm no load and/or misfiringat lower RPM under load.Intake camshaft timing not being retarded? Maybe?

Many MB engines have a limiter on them to prevent over reving in the shop which operates at about 4k. Not sure of earliest date such device was introduced to EMS software.
Could this be your no load misfire?

Get the codes read to assist with low end misfire diagnosic.

Service history. i.e. when were plugs, fuel filter, air filter etc.last changed?
