Default RE: 1997 C230 Question!!!

100K miles are not a real lot for most modern cars. Prior to buying my C230K new, I bought a couple of VW's with 100K miles and both were good reliable cars. I kept 1 for eight years and the other for three years. I read on these forums that the older MB's are better than newer ones. I really don't know if that means the W202 cars are better than the W203 cars or that cars before the W202 are better. When buying any used car the more information you can find out it the better especially if you can get complete maintenance, warranty and repair records. The first VW I bought with 100K miles I bought from the original owner who was buying a new VW and it was better than the 2nd which I bought from the 2nd owner. If the car doesn't have any major obvious problems and the fluids look got good and the price is right, why not. It's always worth having it checked out by a mechanic famlilar with the brand and model. Good Luck!

Default RE: 1997 C230 Question!!!

I got my 1997 C230 (Black/Beige) with 103,000 a few years ago, and it runs great. I am a college student, and I really wouldn't be able to afforda car that breaks down a lot. In fact, the car now has 160,000 and has never broken down. Only thing I spend for is wear 'n tear repairs that you would incur on any car. Feels more solid, safe, and sound then many new car's ive driven.

If you have the same experince I've had with my C230, you will be a Mercedes supporter for life.
