1995 c220
This thread goes for specifically the 1995 C220, 4 cyl, pretty much any questions or comments you have feel free to join. I myself purchased my first Mercedes car and it being this model, I will definitely have questions and what better to ask the pros.
I can barely hear a hissing noise behind the motor where it’s hard to see where it’s coming from. The motor shakes and when I get ready to drive or even in reverse, I have to put a little gas to keep it on or else it will completely turn off when i shift. Going to change the coils, bc spark plugs are new, and I may have pulled something on them. If that doesn’t change after installing the coils, how do u check what hose is leaking?
im having almost this exact problem, but due to a cyl 4 misfire. I'm changing the ignition wires and coils and will update from there. cant hear a hissing sound from mine but that may be due to how loud my car is atm. will update soon
Thanks for the response. Now that you say it, the last spark plug in the back was all full of sediment when I took it out, so I had to clean it up twice when I had them replaced. The guy from the parts store mentioned something about not having a good seal and water coming in. Is that the cyl 4 location? Please let me know how your coil replacement goes, I might just do the same. Or else, I’ll have to wait for the diagnostic tool I purchased for it to see the problem.

yea I should have them installed by the end of this week, also how much was your diagnostic tool and where did you get it? might have to get myself one as well, and yea I have a cyl 4 is the one I'm having problems with but didn't have any water damage or if I did I missed it because I did it myself
So the tool arrived, it cost me $80 but I doubt you’ll find that anywhere, those things go for $100+ in the case you don’t find a private seller. I’ll post what the code says and hopefully it’s not a big list
ok well I just replaced my wires and car runs smoother but still not 100%. it's definitely faster and it doesn't sound like I spilled a bucket of bolts in the back anymore. but I ran into another problem where my cyl 1 and 4 spark plug seats are shot. My friend gave me an estimate of 5k miles before I need to get those replaced. i have someone interested in buying my car soon anyway so I might just get as much as I can outta it before the engine decides to blow up (he's planning on engine swapping it so the motor condition doesn't matter to him) well I'm going to be outta town for the next 2 weeks so I wont be able to give any updates but next thing I'm doing is fixing the windshield wipers. but if your car is shaking or cant go faster than regular traffic id definitely replace your wires or test them
