I know my car is an AMG but I figured I'd ask here 1st since this probably isn't AMG specific.
I just bought a 2003 C32 AMG love the car. The one thing that has me confused is there is a '1 malfunction' that keeps showing up on the display on the dash. In addition, the red SOS button is constantly lit and an SOS message pops up on the dash periodically. The PO has removed the Mercedes stereo and replaced it with an aftermarket one. Could this be the problem?
Thanks!

It't the actual SOS system. Scroll through the menu to malfunctions and see what it says. You have to subscribe to the SOS stuff and it lets you know you're not hooked up. The button always glows to my knowledge. Mine always has. I believe you can get a dealer to turn off the SOS notice, without purchasing the service.

You can have the tele-aid unit removed and version coding/programming changed. All these old units are obselete anyway due to federal mandate that analog network is no longer present (2000-some 2006 tele-aid)and the tele-aid can no longer be used. Just ignore it is the best bet.
