No. My point is that you can't get the best deal at a high-dollar, black tie auction because you have people bidding against you that have too much money to spend and will gladly pay more than an item is worth just to get bragging rights. If that person(s) isn't there, then an auction employee will start making dummy bids against you to artificially drive up the price. On the other hand, that auction may be the only place you'll ever see what you've been shopping for for who knows how long. Either you bite the bullet or move on.
