on my 01 AMG there is a front button to put down the rear headrests, but are they supposed to go back up using the same button or is that done manually? Mine only goes down but not up. I have to put them up by hand.

 

only go down..with the switch....but it depends on what car you have and what options you have, but most benzes only go down with the switch. a rear end collision they will pop up for safety

Reason being someone tall enough to need them can reach behind and pull them up easily.

 

Hmm I see. Thanks you guys. Just wanted to know if the switch is bad. It's really scary riding the car. Too many options and buttons and am sure many computers. Mine had 65K, one owner, really clean and maintained. Hope nothing goes down.

The switch in my 2006 CL55 both raises and lowers the headrests. My recommendation is that you check with the dealer to see what should be happening. If they are designed to automatically pop up in a collision, you might want to be on the safe side and make sure the system is working properly, although I confess I do not know if there is a service/inspection interval for the headrests.

In my cl55 2003...I have a button on the rear console that lifts them back up. My front switch only lowers them also..
