Help me - ECU question
Alright, so since joining the forum I'm trying to figure out this ECU thing.
First of all, I don't want to alter the car - a CLK55 AMG Cab - in any way. At least not at this point. Thus I'm not interested in intakes, pulleys etc. However, if I understand this ECU change it is purely an engine computer modification. Is that correct?
If so, what are the downsides of doing this sort of thing, if any? Would it void a warranty? Would it even be noticed by someone working on the car? Because it seems that a mere $600 can get me some nice benefits with no detriments, and that seems almost... you know, something for nothing.
Anyone care to elucidate?

Hi there lightnng
Flash your ecu is the only thing to do. The software only changes the ecu (computer) in the car. The flash alone (no hardware changes) will give your car about 18PS more and 40 NM - based on 95 octane gasoline. Less quality on the gasoline = less power gain.
The flash is done in some few minutes - over the OBD2 port in the car. There will be no visible signs that the car has been tuned up....
Take a look at this site for more information and an overview for dealers: www.obdtuning.no
