can u open a moonroof manually on a 83 240?

Yes, all electric sunroof's have a manual function. In your toolkit there is a crank. My crank goes into a slot under the front interior light and allows you to crank it open or shut.

do u have a pic of the crank?

slot-were u say thers supposed to be a slot theres a hole in mine?

Mine looks like a bar bent 45 degrees with a philips type driver at one end and the other is for turning. I hve a 99 C280, so the design might have changed. Got to a dealer and they can do it in a snap for you and buy yourself a crank and find out why it didn't close, or open

The '83 240D (123 Body) electric sunroof motor is in the trunk on the driver's (left) side. The sunroof can be moved manually by turning the motor manually. If I remember correctly, it is either a 17 or 19 mm drive on the side of the motor which can be accessed through a small trap door in the trunk / quarter panel liner.
