Default Where is the CrankPosSensor? 190E 2.6 1993

Engine stutters when hot and won't idle or restart easily. Runs fine when cold. Time to start throwing money at the car.

A search shows the Crankshaft Position Sensor is a candidate for loosing spark when the engine comes up to temperature.

Parts houses show a sensor at the front and rear. Help please. There's so much stuff at the front I'm not sure where to look. The manual diagram is end on indicating a sensor may be at left side of engine above horizontal. That's all I could deduce.

Any other ideas or suggestion gladly welcomed.

Trying to find a sensor behind the oil filter but not enough room. Am I close?

However -

Some suppliers shows CPS $50 - 'FRONT' I CAN see a sensor at the front. Is that it?

BUT

Other suppliers show CPS at flywheel $180 - rear Can't be two can there?

HELP

Wink Progress on the western front

The crank position sensor for ignition module is accessible only after oil filter ir removed, so I'm told.

I have ordered the proper part from AutoHousAZ at $116 and it arrived today. Dealer wanted $198 and contributed to the vast number of part nrs. The Bosch box has 0 251 210 49. Apparently many engines use a similar CPS and an effort has been made to convert numbers to a universal part to ease stocking problems. Makes sense to me. Many supplier sites show other numbers but I went with the dealer's suggestion.

Also received an email from a mechanic who claims my problem is a faulty fuel pump, not the CPS. Will post results tomorrow when the car is working properly again. (hows that for positive thinking).

always wanted to try these things.

Had that on my 91sl. Turned out to be a bad Fuel Accumulator.
