Default where can I get a new key without spending $300.00

My wife lost one of our keys to the c-280, where or if there is any place that i can get a key without paying an arm and a leg? Or is this just the price I pay for owning the most luxury car on the market? Any help would be appreicated

Thanks

$300 sounds too expensive I would have thought around $150 for remote and maybe $30 for the metal key insert (sorry i am in uk).
But yes you need to go to the agent and take with you your registration documents (proof of ownership) and I.D (same procedure worldwide). I know that there are some companies that do copy keys but you should not trust them.

Double check the prices form the agent.

I needed an additional key before I took delivery of my 1999 E-class which was an added $140 to the seller. It takes three days to get these "smart" keys from Germany.

It is driving me crazy because I cannot figure it out, my mercedes benz all of a sudden had the owners manual missing when i got the car out of the dealership from the "B" service. I do not trust the dealerships anymore, they are a rip off and I believe that they do things to your car when they see that you bring your benz to the dealership anytime something is wrong with it, they mess with something so that you will have to bring it back to them to fix. i do not know what i am going to do now. i am researching the area to find a shop with a good reputation so that I will not have to take my car to the dealership.

When I got the car out the front driverside headlamp glas had a crack in it, they told me the cost is $200.00 but they recomend that I get the entire unit because quote " they do not seal properly when you just replace the glass" the cost of the entire assembly is $550.00
