Other than an oil and filter change, anyone know what's involved in "service B"...? I'm hearing $500 for this scheduled service...

Other than the oil & filter change we do whats included in the A service + change out your combination filter for your A/C,in some cases your wipers are included it just depends on the car.The rest is just a more thorough inspection like the underbody, suspension components, front & rear brakes, any types of leaks. To me $500 is alot of money for this, but its a Mercedes.

Edmunds has a break down of "A" and "B" service chores and costs. Check out here. http://www.edmunds.com/maintenance/maintenance.do

2001.....s430.....44,000 miles.......bought it with 19,000 miles 2 years ago

Just had service B and it was $500 flat rate + $136 for air filter + $90 for brake fluid + $220 for rear brake pad

Wanted an additional $240 for fuel filter + $635 for spark plugs + $80 for coolant flush (we said no to these items)

This is my first and only MB.....this seems ridiculous. Am I crazy or is this normal pricing????

Prices look very high for work performed. Read the earlier posts in this string to get the Edmunds site and input the details for your car. The estimated B Service tasks/prices are displayed. Remember these are estimates, but a copy of that page should be a good discussion document for you with the Service Manager.

Anyone know how to reset the service reminder if you perform these maintenance procedures yourself?

Latache,

I don't , but that is excellent thinking. I hope someone can answer that for you and others. No more being held captive! This happened to me because my wife took it in and I didn't check on (see the bill) until 3 weeks later.
