Default W116 Fuel Injection Help

Hi there all, I am new, I drive a 1976 w116 350SE in prestine condition.

My problem is that after my fuel accumulator was replaced, Mercedes Benz re-tuned the car. But re-tuned it so that it had a ping under full throttle. So I changed the timing, and now it is running fine, except that I am getting 20l/100km, and the car smells like petrol when it idles. I have already leaned out the fuel distributor by 1/8 turn, but it does not seam to make a difference. Should I lean it out more, and is there signs to look out for when changing mixture that I can know when the mixture is correct.

The car used to burn its exhausts a nice light grey colour, but now it is just black. The car still has a lot of power, but I would really like to have that 20l/100km changed.

The fuel injection system is Bosch K-Jetronic and is an post 1976 system.

Any help will be appreciated.

so amazing that such an old car could remain in a mint condition. very nice, and also the color.

your system is quite different from what has been discussed here. that warm up regulator is also affecting the mixture...in fact, it is the responsible part for fuel pressure regulation.

send your VIN number, and we'll see what we can advise.
