At least three problems, all happening simultaneously:
Diesel engine will not shut off with key. Only manually with emergency stop on engine.
Auto difficult to stop with break pedal. Have to push really hard.
Transmission will not shift automatically from stop thru acceleration.

No previous difficulties with any of the above systems.

I inspected all of the vacuum hoses I can find looking for a disconnected one. None.
I traced the black vacuum hose from the engine back to the transmission device near the drive shaft. It was connected properly.

Important to Note: the windows, windshield wipers, heater fan etc continue to work as normal.
