i own a 1993 300 E 2.6. i recently have had trouble starting the car untill a clicking noise
comes on then it starts fine,does anyone know what that clicking noise is and when does it normally come on. ive waited 2 min for it to come on and ive waited 30 min.but without hearing it come on my car will not start,it turns over butwont start, the moment i hear this clicking noise
it starts, can anyone please share any knowledge about this noise and what it has to do with the car starting ??

 

On my 99 C280 with electronic key, when I insert the key into the ignition there are two clicks, this is normal as supposedly when you turn the key to start it is supposed to start without holding key down, I just turn alll the way on start and let go and 95% of the time is starts. I found a trick when the systme isn't working and I have to hold the key. The valet key I have it is the plastic one with no battery, I insert that and get 3 clicks and then turn to start and let go and it fires up. Every once in a while I have to do this to reset the no hold key start feature as I call it.
