hi all,
first post. i have a 1972 280 SE that has intermitent trouble starting up and then it runs fine at highway speeds., but if at idle it runs real rough and often dies. i am going to replace the fuel filter to start. then probably the fuel lines from the tank, pump, and filter. those lines are rubber hose. does that sound right?
my guesses are that the filter is probably clogged up and maybe there are some cracks in the lines that are letting some pressure dissipate and creating the idling issue.
any thoughts?

try the fuel pressure regulator first that is a good start then try your fuel filter, there is probley no problem with the fuel lines good luck

 

i replaced the fuel filter and the cracked rubber lines yesterday. it seems to be doing alright so far. but it has always been a coming and going symptom. never steady. i will look into the fuel pressure regulator. thanks for the tip. do you happen to know if it is a simple or fairly involved fix?
