Default Topping up the Brake Fluid

I was checking over the fluid levels in my 2002 C240 the other day and noticed that I need to top up the brake fluid (slightly). Question is, do I need to use MB dot 4 brake fluid or can I purchase any dot 4 brake fluid from an auto parts store. Thanks for your help.

Default RE: Topping up the Brake Fluid

do not top it up not unless the lamp comes on.

if all your brake pads are new and it's still low, then you can add brake fluid on it.

reason: as your brake pad get's worn out, it is normal for the fluid level to go down a bit.
