Default Suspension Collapse

Hi There My Merc E Class was sitting on the driveway minding its own business when there was a loud bang and the alarm went off. When I went to see it the suspension had dropped and the bottom of the car was only 4 inches of the road. Any ideas what has happened and what needs fixing and likely cost through official MB dealer Car is a 2005 model

Hi
My 2005 E220 has done the same fortunately at low speed. What was the cause and did MB offer any assistance with the repair?
Regards

MB were great repair cost £140 in total they paid about 75% of cost. Seems not an uncommon problem. Recovered car free of charge arranged hire car repaired in 24 hours. Bet that would not have happened with a Jag

Hi
Found a bit of suspension spring in the garage so looks like the problem. Its in the local garage at present. Reassuring that will not be too expensive!
