S320 95' TRANS SHIFTING SENDER?
Hey Sleepwalker, long time no email, hope your doing well [8D]. I have transmission question concerning my 1995 S320 140,000 miles and still a happy car. My trans just started holding back it’s normal shifting in the morning when cold. It stay in 2nd before shafting smoothly for about 2 minuets. As soon as the car start warming it shifts perfect. I’m wonder is there a sender unit on the transmission or exhaust failing ? Any of you guy's got idea give me a shout... Thank you (The trans fluid/filter are changed every 30,000 or so)
hello SANDDOG
i think your car got catalyst.
if the delay happens during warm up stage, then it's okay.
inside the valve body, there is a temperature restrictor valve. it is red plastic with a small spring.
the "shifting sender" are according to the road speed via governor (the merry-go-round on the rear part), engine vacuum via modulator, and pedal position via the control cable.

Hello Sleepwalker, thanks for the quick response. It's never had this problem in the past. As of last month, I either driver slowly for a few minuets or wined my motor out to 3000 rpms to get it to shift. If that old age will then my car needs a hit of Viagra..
