Default RUST

I have a 2000 CLK 320

It was my third Mercedes, I was happy to say I was a loyal Mercedes Owner when I made the purchase.

But the quality of this car is HORRIBLE.

Now the warranty has worn out and my TRUNK LOCK is RUSTED all the way through.

I could have bought a Chrysler !

YIKES

Does anyone else have issues with RUST after the warranty is expired?

I know the paint IS thin. And it shouldn't be that way on a mercedes.

What's the world coming to?

I wouldn't suggest buffing either...

Its a common fault here in the UK, they cover it under the body warranty if you have MB history, its a 25 year body warranty here.

6 years old. Rusted all the way through? i.e. a hole
Something wrong.
Can you send a photo of the location on the boot.
Has the car been previously repaired in the area of the rust?
I think Sleepwalker hit it on the head.
The UK offers a 30 year perforation warranty subject to conditions. Where are you based?
