I have a 86 560Sl and can't get the hard-top off. I have loosen the two fastners above windshield and the ones behind door on each side. I can't seem to get the rear center one to work. I have been playing around with the window crank type handle but it makes a noise in rear and top will lossen a bit but won't come off. Must be doing something wrong. If the cable is broken how do you get to it? Thanks

 

I have the same problem as you do. Did you get an answer to your problem.

 

I finally got the hardtop off. The center rear pin wouldn't release. Three of us twisted top around a bit and reach in with coat hanger and pull up on the cable. Finally let go although we scratched the cover a bit. I ordered another cable and reinforced the brackett and now works good. Won't be putting top on until cold weather. I did buy a cart to store it on. Also got a hoist from same company. They were in Groton, CT. If you want I can get their address.
