Hi: Newbie needs help removing hard top on sweet 1976 450 SL. Followed instructions and disconnected locks on top of windshield and both doors; no problem. Followed directions from manual but, pin beneath center of rear window will only release top about half an inch although levers are in appropriate positions as per manual Reluctant to force the issue. Top was off when I did test drive. Seller installed hard top to facilitate transportation upon pick up. No help from him... Would greatly appreciate any guidance.

The link below is from another MB Forum that may be of some assistance. Even following the manual, it does take some finessing to get the rear pin to dislodge. After you get the hardtop off, and yes, it will come off, take the advice offered to have the cable stop adjusted so you don't have to go through this again-
