Default Problems after catalytic convertor replacement

I have just had the catalytic convertor replaced in my 3.2 CLK (around 10 years old). I have now noticed that I have a warning light permanently on which could be related to emissions (according to the handbook). Also my fuel gauge now seems stuck at full. Is this warning related to the CAT being new? Is it likely that something has disturbed the sender for the fuel level while working on the CAT?
cheers
