THE FEATURE IS STILL THERE IT JUST NEEDS TO BE ACTIVATED IN THE CODING IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER

 

Finally got the dealer to get the feature working...service manager claims that the coding was there through most but not all of the 2007 model year at which point it was removed and claims it cannot be activated in the 2008 cars -- all of this sounds stupid or silly to me as the feature is quite useful. Anyway, ours works now but it took the service department over an hour to get it working.
