Hi,
Does anyone know what the large corrugated tube that was revealed to me when I removed my lower fascia panel is called and what it is for? The tube is metal and is filled with polystyrene. See attached image.

the shape alone can tell that it was designed for side impact. got crumpled type absorber or somethin'.

i don't know why they do this funny design. to save your leg maybe.
