Default noise on w124 e300 diesel when in idle or stationary oil guage drops to 0 when warm

i have 1996 right hand drive w124 e 300 diesel multi valve estate the car oil pressure gauge when cold is on full 3 but when warmed up it drags itself down it is noisy near the engine when in idling or park.

when fuel peddle is pressed whilst driving the gauge does tick up to between 1-2 on accleration but soon drops back down to zero.

can somebody shed some light on the solution of the problem, the car has no problems with driving or accleration in very good condition hence engine not done alot of miles for a diesel 110k miles.

the non multi valve version of the car i had run up to 300k miles without engine problems.

any help is appreciated.

is it a problem with oil pump or oil pressure sensor.

should the engine be flushed and everything change.

it seems to me the noise is getting loader, i just wanted to know if there is a cure or if it is terminal and if terminal how long before it packs up.

i am complete novice where is the wire located assuming it is the wire or even the sensor, would that cause noise near engine compartment? if so what is that noise which one happen on idling and do not increase on accleration or driving, i am more than happy to get sensor changed or even engine flushed oil changed and then changing the sensor as required.

i am worried the engine noise is another problem or unrelated, or this was the problem in the first place but it was masked and now appeared again.

eitherway if it week fuel or oil pump or even potential terminal engine problem all of these make it uneconomical to repair the unless u r real collector i am after info if it is the engine and is potential terminal is for how long when the the engine give up the ghost
