New Benz Owner needs help
Ok...I know I didn't buy the "top dog" of the fleet....but after my chevy s-10 gave me 14 yrs of service, I bought a '88 190E from a buddy at work. It is a very clean car, not much rust for here in Ohio, only around the jack holes in the rockers....but anyhow, I know this question will be vague and very general, but:
In the morning, or anytime the engine is started cold, it seems to ramp up like the choke is on to about "10" rpm...I would assume this is normal, but a few seconds after starting it drops to about "3" rpm...and if it manages not to die...it will kick itself back up to 10...then the cycle starts again until the engine warms up....then it idles fine. Would anyone have a clue what to look for. The previous owner told me, he was told there was a vacuum line missing under the air filter plentum...would this be the cause?
Also...what would I look for here: When my car is first started the temp guages reads normal...then after 5 minutes of drive time it pegs out over the high limit....then so on down the road it will return to the normal run temp....would this be the sender...gauge...both?
Also...is $20.00 an ok price to pay for a duplicate key from a dealer?
thanks for the help
