Hello, I just purchased a 190E 2.6 on ebay. The guy told me all it needed was a tune up...well I got there and it barely ran. So, I still trusted him not having my MB mechanic handy. Turns out the head was pulled and put together completely backwards upon diagnosis. Do I have any leeway to get some of my money back? A car that needs a tune up is a lot different than a car that needs a new head! Also, the guy I bought it from didn't transfer the title into his name, does this give be any advantage because he was title jumping. Just looking for some advice, I feel like I got ripped of.

Jeez never buy a car on ebay without you or someone else you trust physically going and inspecting the auto.

 

I know, I have owned dozens of Mercedes and never been screwed...
Now I just want to know if there is anything I can do!

 

I have purchased three cars on ebay- Vette, Jeep GC, MB 600SEL. All were risks, especially the prized 1993 600SEL, and we imported it ourselves from Germany.

Guy, you have been ripped and you have to accept that. As long as the car is in good condition, if you want to keep the car, invest in a rebuilt engine, get it over with, and get on with it. Otherwise, dump it now with lessons learned.
