Well I just purchased my first Mercedes yesterday, a 2002 ML500! Now I'm just figuring out how everything works.

I'm having a problem with my trip computer. It works fine, but it does not illuminate which makes it very difficult to see. Is it as simple as replacing a bulb?

 

No, the bulbs are surface soldered onto the lcd board and are not replaceable unless you are good at electronics with a soldering iron and can find replacements at an electronics supply store. Not that it can't be done, just not as easy as replacing regular bulbs. The MB official "fix" is to replace the whole overhead module to the tune of lots of bucks.

 

that's right. it uses LED.

somehow those guys who repair cellular phones are good at pulling out those micro LED and replacing them with new ones.
