Default Manual shifter assembly

I have a 1981 240D with manual transmission. The transmission shop says the shifter assembly is worn out. Is it possible to just replace that portion of the transmission without replacing the entire unit????

Thanks,

Bud

I had a shifer "that was worn out," on my 79 450SLC. I took it to another shop and all it needed was two new bushings, one on th shifter, and one on the rod connecting the shifter to the tranny. Go for a 2nd opinion.
