Default leaving for a while

I am going to be leaving my car for 1.5 months. It is going to be kept in a closed garage so i don't think that i should change the coolant or something. It has 1000 miles on it. What are the things that I should do before I leave?

ok, heres what you do... fill the tank, add some fuel stabilizer (sea foam, sta-bil... both work great) drive it around the block a few times (to get the stablizer worked into the system)
top the tank off compleatly (so it wont rust ), and then disconnect the battery, or put a battery tender on it

I think thats all, good luck
Nate

Dont disconnect the battery, put a trickle charger on it, if the battery runs down ( not in six weeks) you will have to recode the radio, resynk the windows on some models. I left my 01 E over the summer and the mice made a home on the engine it still started, I guess you could throw in a hungry cat, but then there are other issues.

You don't need to do anything special for 1.5 months. A Battery Tender wouldn't hurt, but isn't absolutely necessary.

Gas starts getting "bad" after about 3 months, but it's still good enough to run the engine for awhile afterwards. I never put gas stabilizer in my lawn mower and it starts right up every spring.

The battery will be a little low, but should still start the engine. If not, you have other problems.

Do a search here on "storage" to get long-term storage info.

i do not think that the car will start when I arrive. It sometimes drains the battery when I leave it for a week.

Put a battery manager on it then. A Battery Tender is about $20. Everything else should be okay.
