Intake Air Temp Location
Can anyone tell me the location of the IAT censor? I have a 2002 S430.

RE: Intake Air Temp Location
Hi,
The engine AIT is part of the MAF sensor. Many people think the MAF sensor is the AIT thermistor. You can't actually see the MAF sensor even when the sensor is removed from the housing that holds it.
The cabin AIT is mounted on the plenum chamber which is the "box" (black) under the hood with the grill on top near the screen. Two wires go to the sensor which is held on with a couple of screws. Whilst you are there ensure that no water has collected in the bottom of the plenum due to a blocked drain (very common w220 problem)

RE: Intake Air Temp Location
Unfortunately I can't post pictures for reasons I have never been able to fathom.
Maybe somebody else will send you a pic.
Basically it is in the inlet track AFTER the filter BUT before the throttle butterfly. This may help or not dependent upon your understanding,
Its a black plastic tube like thing with a sensor screwed into the side.likely using "special" anti tamper security Torx screws.
To gain access you MAY have to pull the air cleaner off. Jerk upwards.
I don;'t have a 430 so can't be 100% sure where it is located without looking.
