how do i reset check engine light

Default how do i reset check engine light
i left my gas cap loose on my 2002 slk230. the check engine light came on. this happen before and i had to take it to the dealership. they reset it for free, but the inconvience of driving way to the dealership for that small problem was very time consuming. Is there a way i could reset it myself? please help

It will go off after a number of starts.

You could also try an OBDII reader/code reset-er, though I am not sure if it would reset it.
