HELP! stuck at a rest stop in CT RE:my 94 c-280
Hello, I need help with my 1994 c-280. I bought a 94 c280 last week in Vermont and I am on my way home to NJ as we speak. I had to stop at a rest stop because of a problem with the ASR light. In the middle of driving, my ASR light came on. My car will only move when I give it alot of gas. Is there anyway I can disable the ASR so I can go at a normal speed again and get home? Thanks you very much.

Greg, MB Roadside Assistance may be able to help you if you don't get other responses here. 1-800-FOR-MERCEDES (1-800-367-6372).
If you have a cellphone, you may want to post the number if somebody needs to 'talk you through' what you may need to do to get going. Good Luck

There could be several separate or combining problems to cause an ASR only dash light illumination in these years MB cars, and by what you describe a subsequent "limp home" mode engine running condition. First try:
-are all of the brake lights working, including third brake light. Could be a bulb, electrical connection or brake light switch.
-check for any loose electrical connections at the MAF sensors and other engine controls electrical connections.
-check the throttle cable and transmission cable actions and connections.
-does the battery and alternator work ok and have good electrical connections and if also equipped, overvoltage relay or fuse ok?
-have you had any O2 sensors or other engine sensor problem conditions?
-you willneed to read, record and then clear any computer diagnostic codes.
