Help Please - 99 ML320 Rear Brakes...
Hi, I would greatly appreciate any help on this. Trying to replace the brake pads but can't seem to release the caliper. I took the 2 bolts from the rear of the barke unit and got the caliper slightly loose but got stuck there. Any suggestions on how to proceed and if someone can post the pages from the manual, it would be AWESOME!
Thanks in advance for the help.

Is the emergency brake released or is it engaged?
Emergecy brake (had brake in persian, in the case of MB it is foot brake) should be released for what you are trying to do with the rear brakes.

RE: Help Please - 99 ML320 Rear Brakes...
Hi,
the emergency brakes have been released. One question: after removing the 2 long bolts (T40's) from the back of the caliper, do I then lift the caliper up and away from the disk?
Thanks,

RE: Help Please - 99 ML320 Rear Brakes...
Hi Bahman,
I assume the emergency brake was your problem. Please make sure your car is secure in place and that it will not start rolling with the emergency brake off and at lease one of the rear sides up in the air. Be careful.
I have never worked on the 99 ML320 Rear Brakes. If you have rear disk brake, I am guessing that you most likely have to take the calipers out to replace the pads. Be carefull not to snag the brake line or have the caliper hanging from the brake line. You may damage the brake line and have a lead which is very dangerous. You should try to have the caliper hanging from a string or have someone help you to hold it with the goal of brake line free of any stress.
Thanks,
Kamal

RE: Help Please - 99 ML320 Rear Brakes...
Hi Kamal,
unlike other cars I have worked on, On the ML320 you have to lift the caliper up, and as you indicated, very carefully so as not to damage/sever the brake lines etc. I had released the emergency brakes before but was trying to somehow "open" or tilt the caliper rather than "lift" them. I will go back and try this later today and hopefuly will be able to get the job done. I appreciate your responses and all the best.
Merci,
