Default Help with Moon Roof issue on C320

I entered this post originally in the introduction area. I thought it would be more appropriate in this forum:

Just wanted to drop in and say Hi to everyone.

Long story short, My wife totaled her G6 one week ago today. We settled with insurance and ended up with the car being worth more that we owed.

After researching many different cars, I ran across the Mercedes. The car is a 2004 C320 Sport coupe, silver, grey leather, moon roof, CD Changer, etc.

We love the car after driving around all day.

Got a problem with the moon roof. It seems the switch sometimes will work, other times it's very finicky. It acts erratic in that sometimes it moves a little, once it got stuck closed, but raised in the rear. Now I've got it stuck in the completely open position. The motor above the upper buttons seems to be making a grinding type sound, but the glass won't budge.

Update: Late last night, I was able to slowly push the roof forward while holding the button. I was able to get it to the front, but the roof was still tilted open in the back, and the front piece (above windshield) was about 3/4 down. It was still making the grinding noise the whole time. Probably not good for the motor, but at least the roof isn't wide open now.

Can anyone tell me what may be wrong, and what it will take to fix it. We called the dealer, and they said they will take care of it, but I want to know exactly what is causing this.

Thanks and glad to be here. Seems like a great forum.
