Default Hardtop question for my Sl500

My hydraulics don't work and today I decided to put on the hard top. I couldn't get the latches in the trunk to pull the top down close enough to the car (about a 1/4" gap).

Anyone have any ideas on how to get this manual process to work. Also, I thought about purchasing one of the latches (attached to the hardtop) to get the process down ( nearly wore my self out lifting the top on and off too many times day) - Any idea the name of the latch attached to the roof panel and where I might find one?>

Thanks,
Ray

Default Hardtop latches

Are you sure that the latches are locked down all the way? Some people on benzworld.org talk about putting spacers between the hardtop and its latches because the locks cannot pull them down all the way, and they come back up.

Or, if your setup worked in the past, it may just need the extra pulling force that good hydraulic cylinders give the locks.

For parts and cylinder repair, go to www.tophydraulicsinc.com.

They rebuilt my cylinders, and they are parting out R129s.
