Default SL500 Hardtop Hydraulics

I have a 98 SL500 with a hardtop that will not pull down all of the way on the passenger rear. If I hold the top control switch forward, it will pull the top closer to the body (just perfect). When the switch is released, it will come up about 3/8". I have tried to adjust the rear latch in the body and it makes no difference. Could there be air trapped in the hydraulic cylinder? Might it be an alignment problem? I hate getting the additional wind noise and some water leakage in a driving rain. Soft top works fine. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. CJE

it is normal to go back a little.

the hydraulic seems to have it's job completely.

alignment problem is most likely. just adjust it down a little.

the sealing still looks fine?

Thanks for your help and the schematics. I moved the rear latch a bit lower and it pulled down to spec. Thank you again.
