My girlfriend was driving home during a micro-burst storm last Friday. When that happens all the water runs down the middle of town. She followed traffic to the bridge over the runoff, but somehow the C230K took a gulp and the car died. It dried for two days and would not start.

I took it to the shop this morning after talking to my insurance rep. and before I could get a mile away from the shop, the rep is calling me back saying he spoke to the service manager. Before I could get to work, he's already got another message on my phone saying the the car is hydrolocked and they're replacing the engine, it's already a done deal.

?!? That was fast. Did anyone look at the engine?

 

Update: The new engine block is installed. I paid for new engine mounts too, since the car already had 80K miles on it. Total cost @10K, but I only paid $800.

Still.....that's a weekend in Las Vegas.

They didn't even replace the air filter or the air hose which has an old rip in it. They didn't wash the car, either. But all the MB people were very, very polite and didn't argue anything with me.
