Default German model of 1977 450SL

I bought a 1977 450SL in Canada. The person i bought it from told me it had been originally sold in Germany and then brought to Canada, and I'm trying to figure out if this is true and if so how it will affect which parts I might need, and differences from the US models
It has several differences I've noticed from the US models I've seen from the mid 70's:

Small bumpers not the ones that stick out 5 inches
Manual, not power windows
No Catalytic converter
Heat/AC controls have the sliders and two round *****, not the temperature dial
Forest or moss green interior.

HOwever it has 4 round sealed beam headlights, not the single molded units I thought European models had?

Is there a way to find out from the VIN?
I know with some of my Guitars the serial number will tell you where they were made and in what month/year.

THanks for any help.
