Got a 1980 450 sl. Just rebuilt the fuel distributor and its still doing the same thing. Motor is flooding and lots of smoke blueish grey. Car was running fine . It came on suddenly and started skipping. After today with the rebuilt fuel distributor it ran better and actually the smoke went away. (So I know it's not oil) as I accelerated the smoke came back.
Anyone have any ideas. I'm headed for the injectors next.
