Hi, we have a beautiful 560SL with 38,000 miles. The tech says it needs a crankshaft position sensor and there are not any anywhere. I can't believe this fairly common part cannot be found somewhere, so is it possible that these cars will have to be retired/junked because of no parts? Does anyone have an idea of where to find this part? My tech is very experienced and he has not been able to get one.
UPDATE: Just talked to the tech; he was able to find a CPS, but it did not fix the issue. Engine runs beautifully but dies suddenly. He has discussed with every shop and guru he knows. I am going to pick the car up and call it quits; seems no one can fix it.
