Default Feedback about repair costs

I brought a 2000 C230 Kompressor to a dealership and had the following work done on it:

Oil Filter $20.50
MOvil 1 5W40 Engine Oil $60.50
Summer Solvent $9.25
Fuel System Treatment $24.95
Air Filter $25.50
Ventilation Filter $40.50
Front Lower Contral Arm Bushings $160.00
Front Flex Disc $152.00

The total cost for Parts listed above was $492.70 but the cost for Labor was $967.72. Please provide me some feedback on the total costs which was $1,569.53.

Default RE: Feedback about repair costs

Dealers in the UK would charge 160USD for the engine oil (Mobil 1 0-40) + of course filter and servicing charge.

Although I have no specific experience of USA costs its sounds pretty typical for a main MB dealer. Typical of the OE auto industry rather than just MB.

At least the job SHOULD have been completed competently.
However dealers are known to charge for work that is not always carried out.
If you are concerned have a look at the date on the "new" cabin filter.
My own experience is that despite 10 main dealer services throughout the former life of my car the cabin filter HAD NEVER BEEN CHANGED.
Original build date on the very dirty filter and all invoices (passed to me by the previous owners) referred to changing the cabin air filter!

DIY and be sure the work is done and at a fraction of the overall cost.
