Fan Problem in CLK 320
Hi - I have a two door 1997 CLK 320 Mercedes & the fan goes on about 5-10 min after the car is turned off & then continues until the battery is dead. The engine temp is normal & the fan sounds like it's running really fast & LOUD - sounds almost like a gardener with a leaf blower is in my driveway. Any suggestions on what might be causing this little tantrum? Thanks!
yea - I was wondering whether it might be something like that. At first we couldn't figure out how the battery died after arriving back at the house after it was parked 3 weeks. Then we hooked the battery charger up to it & the fan went on right away & it seemed to be going just as fast as it does when the car is running. After it was charged, I drove it around for a while, shut the car off & 5-10 min later the fan came whirlling on again at full speed & wouldn't stop until I took out the fuse. I jiggled some stuff around to check the connection & it hasn't happened again since yesterday afternoon, but I'm thinking it's only a matter of time.
So a short in the fan motor, eh - I wonder how complex (or expensive) the procedure is to to fix it?
Definitely appreciate all the help! Thanks again...
