I had a nasty situation where a cam snapped, caused damage to the valves, rails, and broke the front cover. The automobile has 82k miles on it. Everyone that I have spoken with strongly urges me to change the timing chain and tensioner due to the stretching of the chain and its weakend condition after the failure. What kind of damage will a failure in the timing chain cause if I install the original weakend chain? Is this even possible?
