I have a 03 E320 with 48,000 miles. The consumers shut off warning continues toappear, however, everything works except thesummer window option.Do I need a new battery?

Sounds that way; many German cars have a failsafe mode wherein the electrical system will shut down all nonessential functions as battery voltage drops. Get it checked.

If the warning is correct, the battery is the obvious problem but at the same time check out the alternator. Some of your accessory buttonsmay blink (heated seats) etc. when there is not enough "juice". If and when the battery fails completely, the car will turn itself off and roll to a stop. Not an appealing thought on the highway.

Possible battery control module issue. Dealer can diagnose within an hour. Dont forget 211 has an auxilliary battery under the hood.

Most likely you'll need a Auxilliary battery and check for newer software updates for BCM

I took the car to MB dealer and was told that the problem is the battery control module. I will let you know how it goes when I pick the car up today.
