If your going to store your car for the winter, which IMHO is a Why question? Cars are made to be driven. I drive my 79 450SLC in snow. I was the undercarriage a lot at the self serve car wash.

But anyway. You need a battery trickle charger that shuts off when the battery is fully charges and restarts when it goes below a predetermined amount of volts. I have one for my 99 C280 as it gets driven once or twice a week and usually a city jaunt. The Battery Tender Plus is the one I have. You need to be close to an electric outlet and don't forget to unplug it. I did once and pulled half of the grille off the car. The Tender is easy to install and no maintenance and it runs itself. Prices range for $39.95 to $59.95. As far as the brake lights, it could be from the dead battery, and they need to be reset. Have you driven the car? I assume the brakes work?

Start the car and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock, it will probably relearn the steering angle sensor.
