Any advice on changing the battery on my Vito 112CDI (2002). Returned from holiday to find battery nearly flat. As 4 years old have decided to change it. If disconnected will I loose the information stored within the assist servicing computer, central locking etc or does it have a backup. Any tips on keeping the current whilst changing the battery. ie can I use the new battery with additional leads whilst swapping them would be very welcome.

I have been told the battery can be charged whilst still connected. Doesn't sound a good idea to me. Again any advice welcome.

 

besides doing it in one step so you dont lock the car up without a battery or something, you might want to go to the general tech area for this question.
